Plant Transformation Facility

| As the rapid development in plant genomics research identifies more genes, their functional analysis relies on strategies such as complementation, overexpression, or gene silencing. Plant genetic transformation is a critical technology required in the application of these strategies.
The ISU Plant Transformation Facility (PTF) was established in 1995 as one of the first public facilities to provide genetic transformation services for academic researchers. This was made possible with the Baker Endowment Advisory Council for Excellence in Agronomy start-up fund and support from the Agricultural Experiment Station, the ISU Biotechnology Council, the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, and the Iowa Soybean Promotion Board. Currently, the facility is supported by the Department of Agronomy(College of Agriculture and Life Sciences ), Plant Sciences Institute and the Office of Biotechnology. |
